
Volunteer Position: Fund Development and Events Coordinator (Remote)

Position Summary

Congo Yetu Initiative (CYI) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Fund Development and Events Coordinator to support fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, sponsorship development, and community events. This volunteer role is ideal for someone who enjoys networking, event planning, proposal development, and building partnerships that strengthen nonprofit organizations.
As a key member of the CYI team, you will help secure resources that support youth programs, newcomer services, community engagement activities, and international development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Fund Development
- Research grant, sponsorship, and funding opportunities.
- Assist with the preparation of funding proposals, sponsorship packages, and donor communications.
- Support donor stewardship and relationship management activities.
- Help identify potential corporate, foundation, and community partners.
- Maintain fundraising records and donor databases.
Event Planning and Coordination
- Assist in planning and coordinating fundraising events, community forums, workshops, and networking activities.
- Develop event timelines, budgets, and promotional strategies.
- Coordinate volunteers, speakers, sponsors, and community partners.
- Support virtual and in-person event logistics.
- Monitor event outcomes and prepare post-event reports.
Partnership Development
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration and sponsorship.
- Represent CYI professionally during meetings and community engagements.
Communications Support
- Collaborate with the Communications Team to promote fundraising campaigns and events.
- Assist with developing outreach materials and donor communications.
- Support social media and community engagement efforts related to fundraising initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Passion for community development, youth empowerment, and social impact.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Preferred
- Experience in fundraising, donor relations, event planning, sales, marketing, or nonprofit management.
- Experience writing grant proposals or sponsorship requests.
- Knowledge of the nonprofit sector.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
