Organization: CANCARO – Black Youth Justice Program (BYJP)
Location: Remote (Anywhere in Canada)
Time Commitment: ~4–6 hours/week

We are a community-driven organization dedicated to advancing the health, well-being, and empowerment of Black youth and their families across Canada. The Black Youth Justice Program (BYJP), led by CANCARO, delivers culturally relevant youth programming, wellness initiatives, community engagement, and advocacy to address systemic barriers faced by Black youth.

Volunteer Leadership Opportunities – Remote (Anywhere in Canada)

CANCARO is recruiting volunteer Directors to join the BYJP leadership team. These roles are fully remote, collaborative, and report directly to the Program Director. Volunteers will gain professional development, capacity-building opportunities, and networking connections while contributing to meaningful systemic change for Black youth and their families.

About the Role:
CANCARO’s Black Youth Justice Program (BYJP) is seeking a Director of Partnerships & Resource Development to help grow and sustain our programs for Black youth and their families. This volunteer leadership role reports directly to the Program Director and works collaboratively with the leadership team to build partnerships, secure resources, and ensure the program’s long-term impact.

Responsibilities:

Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders, donors, and community partners.

Develop and implement fundraising and resource development strategies.

Support grant writing, proposals, and donor stewardship activities.

Collaborate with the leadership team to align resources with program priorities.

Establish formal agreements (MOUs, contracts) to secure partnerships.

Foster collaborations with networks, coalitions, and alliances to expand organizational influence and reach.

Lead grant writing, donor engagement, sponsorship negotiations, and fundraising campaigns.

Oversee prospect research to identify new funding opportunities.

Design and manage fundraising events or initiatives.

Work closely with communications teams to craft compelling cases for support.

Ensure consistent messaging to partners, funders, and stakeholders.

Work with finance teams to forecast, track, and monitor resource inflows.
