
Volunteer Co-Lead: Climate Resilient Communities
🌱Climate Resilient Communities (CRC) (crc.place) is a volunteer-run project operating under Transition Toronto (transitiontoronto.org). We strengthen communities’ capacity to bounce forward by helping community groups to effectively advocate for their needs and find solutions to environmental, social and economic challenges exacerbated by changing climate.
🌻Current projects include a community data program, a climate/data literacy community workshop program, a multilingual climate chatbot for accessible climate information, a climate stories map, and a climate anxiety NLP/LLM analysis project.
Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week based on project needs and flexibility
Location: Remote within Canada, ideally in the Greater Toronto Area
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Volunteer Management: Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and engagement of new volunteers on a quarterly basis, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for all team members.
- Team Socials and Meetings: Organize and facilitate quarterly team socials to build camaraderie and strengthen team connections. Plan and run efficient monthly team meetings, keeping discussions focused, timely, and productive.
- Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for volunteers, providing ongoing support and information to ensure they are informed and engaged in CRC’s initiatives.
- Onboarding and Training: Design and implement a structured onboarding process for new volunteers, providing them with the necessary resources, training, and support to succeed in their roles.
Ideal Skill Set:
- Organisational Excellence: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and timelines efficiently.
- People Management: Experience in managing or coordinating teams, with a knack for fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
- Event Planning: Enthusiasm for planning and executing team events, from socials to meetings, ensuring they are well-organized and enjoyable.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and support volunteers effectively.
- Passion for Climate Action: A genuine interest in climate resilience, social justice, and making a positive impact within communities.
