
Volunteer Board Position: Treasurer
The Role
We are seeking a volunteer to join our Board of Directors as Treasurer. Rather than doing heavy manual entries, this role focused on financial oversight, monitoring the day-to-day bookkeeping, tracking rental revenue streams, and ensuring strict regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will provide strategic oversight of our digital accounting ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping Monitoring: Oversee and monitor day-to-day bookkeeping records to ensure all rental revenue, memberships, and operational expenses are captured accurately.
- System Oversight: Ensure the integrity of entries, bank feeds, and reconciliations within QuickBooks Online.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present concise financial updates at monthly/bi-monthly board meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
- Compliance Management: Supervise and verify the timely completion and filing of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Registered Charity Information Return (T3010) and provincial filings.
- Budgeting: Partner with the board to establish the annual operational budget for property upkeep and community programming.
- Qualifications
- Required: In-depth, practical knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO) to properly monitor and review data.
- Background in accounting, bookkeeping, or corporate finance (CPA or CPA candidate is highly valued).
- Familiarity with non-profit/charitable financial compliance and reporting standards in Canada.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about local history or community heritage preservation in West Toronto.
