Help Build a Stronger Support Network for Families Affected by MAID

Families and friends affected by Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) often face complex emotions, difficult conversations, and a need for one-on-one, personalized support. MAID Family Support Society is a national charity that exists to ensure friends and family are supported before, during, and after a loved one’s MAID journey.

As demand for our services continues to grow, we are looking for new volunteer Board Members across Canada. We are seeking people who are:

  • Compassionate, thoughtful, and collaborative
  • Excited to contribute their skills and ideas
  • Passionate about strengthening support for families

Whether you bring professional expertise, lived experience, nonprofit leadership, or a strong interest in our mission, your contribution can help shape the future of our organization and its impact.

We are especially interested in candidates with backgrounds in:

  • Finance and operations
  • HR and employment law
  • Nonprofit governance
  • IT, data, and analytics

Our board works entirely remotely, making participation possible regardless of where you live in Canada. Board members are expected to:

  • Attend all board meetings. We meet for two hours, once every six weeks, over Zoom.
  • Serve on at least one of the following existing or future committees: Policy and governance; fundraising; recruitment; marketing and communications.
  • Occasionally attend virtual national or local volunteer meetings and training.
  • Attend fundraising events in their geographic area.

Our focus is support, not advocacy. We are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive space for individuals and families navigating a loved one's MAID decision.

Join us in ensuring that no one faces this journey alone.
