U+ Community is recruiting Usher & Crowd Flow Volunteers to support the York Region Volunteer Fair on September 20, 2026, at Thornhill Community Centre.

The York Region Volunteer Fair brings together students, community members, nonprofit organizations, and local organizations to connect individuals with meaningful volunteer opportunities and strengthen community engagement across York Region.

As an Usher & Crowd Flow Volunteer, you will help attendees move safely and efficiently throughout the event. You will support the event team by providing directions, monitoring high-traffic areas, and helping maintain an organized and welcoming environment. Training will include venue layout, attendee flow, and event procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
• Welcome and direct attendees throughout the event venue
• Guide attendees between entrances, organization areas, activity spaces, and exits
• Help manage lineups and high-traffic areas
• Support smooth movement of attendees throughout the venue
• Monitor crowded areas and notify event staff when additional support is needed
• Help keep entrances, exits, and walkways clear and accessible
• Provide basic directional information to attendees
• Support crowd flow during busy arrival and departure periods
• Communicate attendee concerns or operational issues to the event team
• Complete required orientation and training before the event

Event Date: Sunday, September 20, 2026
Location: Thornhill Community Centre, 7755 Bayview Ave., Thornhill, Ontario

No previous event or volunteer experience is required. Training and instructions will be provided.

Ideal candidates will:
• Be friendly, approachable, and comfortable interacting with the public
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Be reliable, punctual, and responsible
• Be comfortable working in a busy event environment
• Be able to provide clear directions and instructions
• Remain calm and professional when managing busy or crowded areas
• Work effectively as part of a team
• Be observant and able to identify areas requiring additional support
• Be available for required training, preparation activities, and the September 20 event

An interest in hospitality, customer service, event management, communications, or community engagement is considered an asset.
