About The Role

The Trauma Support Case Manager at NWRCT in partnership with the Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS) and the “Indigenous Initiatives Fund-Human Trafficking” will work on innovative approaches to support survivors of sexual violence, harassment, and human trafficking, while building a body of evidence about what works to improve service delivery outcomes. Under the guidance and support of the Program Manager, The Trauma Support Case Manager will provide support and assistance to the program and its clients.

What You Will Bring Along:

• Degree or Certificate in social work, counseling, trauma therapy OR related degree/certificate with a minimum of four (4) years of work experience or other related, equivalent experience.
• Strong experience in client advocacy with demonstrated experience providing services to Indigenous women, families, and/or communities.
• Proven ability in case management and supportive counseling skills
• Proven experience in and knowledge of victims’ issues surrounding violence against women, sexual violence, human trafficking, transitional support, crisis management, and stabilization.
• Strong client assessment skills, with the ability to work from a client-centered, trauma-informed approach with an Indigenous lens.
• Ability to work with in-house traditional healers for intervention, crisis, and program creation.
• Experience working with Indigenous Peoples and communities who have faced trauma.
• Experience working with Traditional Healers, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers in a professional setting.
• Strong organizational/time management skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and documentation
• Strong case management/crisis response/intervention skills/needs/risk assessment skills
• Demonstrated experience in crisis support, intervention, and ability to mediate conflict.
• Program facilitation skills are an asset.
• Current Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening are required.
• First Aid and CPR certifications are an asset.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Actively take part in, implementing, and promoting the Trauma Support program while attending critical committee and advisory tables on GBV AND HT
• Provide case management services which include assessment, short-term intensive case management, supportive counseling, long-term planning, and follow-up services to victims of sexual violence, human trafficking, and traumatic situations.
• Assess client needs and develop and implement a plan of care with short and long-term objectives, with ongoing monitoring until clients can be referred to the necessary service providers.
• Provide crisis intervention support and short-term counseling services for clients.
• Collaborate closely and make referrals to the programs Trauma Counsellors & Traditional Healers and Trauma Support Coordinator to support clients with wrap-around care while also offering programs and services that meet the program mandate.
• Refer and link clients to a range of community resources to provide blanket, wrap-around support.
• Co Facilitate and support circles and groups for survivors of sexual violence and human trafficking.
