Position Overview:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Children & Youth Services, the Camp Coordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating program plans for a thirteen-week camp program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan & implement a process for hiring camp staff.
  • Provide orientation & training for camp staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee all day-to-day camp operations.
  • Supervise all camp staff.
  • Maintain appropriate information, statistics & reports.
  • Monitor camp budget, time sheets & petty cash.
  • Engage with parents and family.
  • Complete relevant documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • This position may be funded by Canada Summer Jobs.
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with children & youth.
  • Experience with supervising others.
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Ability to accept supervision and seek counsel.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher) and database management.
  • Dependable, punctual and flexible.
  • Second language an asset.
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Currently enrolled or recently completed a diploma, degree and/or other certificate in a post-secondary institution.
  • CPR and First Aid training preferred
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.

  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.
  • Have a valid SIN
  • NOTE: International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
