About Unplugged Canada:
Unplugged Canada is a grassroots, parent-led movement raising awareness about the risks of early smartphone use among children. Through advocacy, resources, and our online pledge, we empower parents and caregivers to delay smartphones until at least age 14, while building a supportive community of like-minded families who value in-person friendships and experiences.

Position Summary:
We're looking for a passionate and creative Social Media Manager to help grow Unplugged Canada's online presence and community. This volunteer will play a key role in spreading our message, engaging our audience, and supporting our mission to help families reclaim childhood from smartphones and social media.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, create, and schedule content across our social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.)
  • Develop a consistent content calendar aligned with campaigns, events, and key messaging
  • Engage with our online community by responding to comments and messages
  • Track performance metrics and adjust strategy to increase reach and engagement
  • Collaborate with the team on promoting events, webinars, and the pledge campaign
  • Stay up to date on relevant trends and conversations around smartphones, social media, and children's well-being

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about delaying smartphones and social media use among children
  • Experience managing social media accounts (personal, professional, or volunteer) is an asset
  • Strong writing and visual communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media scheduling tools (e.g., Canva, Later, Hootsuite) is a plus
  • Ability to translate posts into French is an asset, but not mandatory
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with a volunteer team
  • Valid police records check for the vulnerable sector, or willingness to obtain one before starting the volunteer role
