JOB POSTING: Shelter Coordinator
Classification: Non-bargaining position
Contract: Full-time
The Shelter Coordinator is under the direction of the Shelter Director, or designate. The Shelter Coordinator will assist the Shelter Director and Shelter Supervisor in the day-to-day office administration and supervision of Anduhyaun Shelter in a manner that is consistent with our mandate:
To support Indigenous women and their children in their efforts to maintain their cultural identity, self-esteem, economic, physical, and spiritual well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
â—Ź Complete all aspects of administrative responsibilities
â—Ź Respond to telephone, email, and verbal inquiries from staff, vendors, etc. in a timely manner
â—Ź Schedule staff shifts, maintain timesheets for payroll, and update staff entitlements
â—Ź Conduct regular inventory of groceries and supplies. Source and order items as needed
â—Ź Stay up-to-date on client and staff issues, attend staff meetings, read client notes
â—Ź Assist with case management, staff or client issues, and report updates to Shelter Director
â—Ź Assist with cultural programming & coordinate program schedule in collaboration with the Sexual Assault Counsellor and Transitional Support Counsellor
â—Ź Manage petty cash receipts
â—Ź Maintain accurate electronic and manual filing of correspondence, invoices, petty cash, timesheets, etc. for efficient recovery and use
â—Ź Manage the Google Drives, organizing digital files, adding/removing staff members, etc.
â—Ź Act as staff lead in the absence of the Shelter Director & Shelter Supervisor
â—Ź Other duties as required
Key Requirements:
â—Ź Must provide a current Criminal Record Vulnerable Sector Check (CPIC)
â—Ź Must provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 as per Anduhyaun Vaccination Policy (see website for details)
â—Ź Educational background in Social Services/Social Work or equivalent diploma/degree
â—Ź Ability to clearly communicate with the Shelter Director and others
â—Ź Excellent time management, organizational, and record keeping skills
â—Ź Ability to work in a fast paced and stressful environment
â—Ź Adhere to health and safety regulations, Policies, and Procedures, especially regarding Confidentiality of client and business information. Any breach of confidentiality may lead to immediate termination.
â—Ź Knowledge of Indigenous culture is considered an asset
â—Ź Experience in administrative/management role is considered an asset
â—Ź Experience managing in unionized environment is considered an asset
Hours of Work/Compensation:
● Regular shift Sunday to Thursday, 9 am – 5 pm, 8 hours
â—Ź Alternating on-call, shared with the Shelter Supervisor & Shelter Director
â—Ź Travel may be required from time to time
â—Ź Some evening and/or weekend work may be required from time to time
â—Ź $25.00 per hour
