Position Overview

Solution Community is seeking a strategic, narrative-driven Volunteer Senior Grants Writer to join our volunteer team. In this pivotal role, you will secure the vital funding that fuels our programs. You will take ownership of the grant lifecycle—from researching prospects to crafting compelling proposals. This position is ideal for an experienced writer looking to apply their skills toward fostering global collaboration, social impact, and community development.

Key Responsibilities:

Proposal Writing & Submission

• Draft comprehensive proposals: Write high-quality, persuasive grant applications, letters of intent (LOIs), and concept notes for foundations, corporate giving programs, and government entities.
• Manage submissions: Compile and submit all required supporting documentation, including budgets, financial reports, and organizational metrics, ensuring strict adherence to funder guidelines and deadlines.
• Refine narratives: Synthesize complex program data into clear, emotionally resonant impact stories that align with funder priorities.

Prospect Research & Strategy

• Identify opportunities: Conduct detailed research to discover new institutional, corporate, and private funding prospects.
• Maintain the pipeline: Manage a tracking calendar of active grants, upcoming deadlines, and reporting timelines to ensure continuous funding streams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Gather data: Partner with program managers and leadership to collect quantitative and qualitative data regarding program outcomes.
• Collaborate globally: Work seamlessly with diverse, multicultural, and remote teams to keep organizational messaging cohesive and accurate.

Qualifications & Skills

Required Experience

• Proven track record: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or institutional advancement within the non-profit or social impact sectors.
• Demonstrated success: A history of securing five-figure and six-figure grants from private foundations or corporate donors.
• Proposal development lifecycle: Deep experience managing the full grant lifecycle, including prospect identification, cultivation strategy, initial inquiry, complex narrative writing, budget alignment, and post-award reporting.
• Data synthesis: Proven capability to translate raw programmatic data, logical frameworks, and financial metrics into compelling, high-impact stories of human impact.
• Funder compliance: Prior history working directly with funder portals and strict compliance frameworks, ensuring accurate documentation and timeline management.
