Position Summary
Dixon Hall is seeking a dedicated RGI Specialist to join our Real Estate & Property Management team. Reporting to the Property Manager, the RGI Specialist is responsible for managing and administering the Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) program for Dixon Hall’s housing projects. This includes managing RGI calculations, annual reviews, subsidy administration, tenant file compliance, and required reporting.

This position is a non-unionized position.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, issues, and receives necessary documentation from tenants to complete annual income reviews, mid-year changes, and household composition changes in accordance with RGI guidelines.
  • Works collaboratively with Housing Services teams and appropriate Managers to support tenants through the annual review process.
  • Seeks assistance from Case Managers and support staff in obtaining required documentation and communicating information regarding rent calculations and reviews.
  • Notifies tenants in writing regarding rent-geared-to-income calculation decisions in accordance with RGI guidelines.
  • Maintains manual and electronic tenant files in accordance with RGI guidelines and organizational standards.
  • Notifies tenants of annual rent increases in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Act.
  • Works closely with the Property Administrator, providing coverage to the position as needed.
  • Provides management support to the Property Managers.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, in languages other than English, an asset.

Qualifications

  • Community college diploma in Business Administration or related field; equivalencies will be considered.
  • Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) Certification required.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of directly related experience completing RGI calculations and annual reviews.
  • Working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act, Housing Services Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and Landlord and Tenant Board processes.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of resources and services available in the community.
  • Certificates in first aid, CPR, crisis prevention, and intervention are assets.
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the agency's operational requirements.
