
Retail & Community Coordinator
Working in collaboration with the Clothes Line Thrift Store Manager, the Retail & Community Coordinator will assist with day-to-day store operations. The Retail & Community Coordinator will also play a key role in strengthening the connection between CONTACT Community Services, The Clothes Line Thrift Store, and the broader community. This position leads community-facing initiatives, coordinates volunteer recruitment and engagement, oversees community grant programming, and manages social media presence to support awareness, participation, and fundraising aligned with CONTACT’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
The Clothes Line
- Support the day-to-day operations of the store including working on the floor and collaborating with the store manager as needed.
Community Events and Outreach
- Plan, coordinate, and represent CONTACT Community Services at community events, fairs, and outreach opportunities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, senior organizations, and local stakeholders.
- Identify new opportunities for community involvement that promote CONTACT’s programs and services.
Volunteer Liaison and Ambassador Oversight
- Serve as the primary liaison for volunteers, ensuring clear communication and positive engagement.
- Recruit, train, support, and supervise the Volunteer Ambassador Team.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and meaningful volunteer experience aligned with CONTACT’s values.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules and workflow in collaboration with store leadership.
- Maintain clear and accurate volunteer records.
Community Grant Programming
- Oversee the planning and execution of programming funded through community grants.
- Ensure grant objectives, timelines, and reporting requirements are met.
- Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to deliver engaging and accessible programming for seniors.
- Collect feedback and outcome data to support grant reporting and future funding opportunities.
Social Media and Communications
- Develop & deliver communications strategy to highlight organizational activities, community events, volunteer stories, and programs.
- Create, manage, and maintain CONTACT Community Service’s social media presence across relevant platforms.
- Promote community engagement, donations, and participation through consistent and positive messaging.
- Monitor engagement metrics and adjust strategies to increase reach and impact.
Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with thrift store staff, volunteers, and CONTACT Community Services leadership.
- Support special initiatives, campaigns, and events as required.
- Uphold CONTACT’s mission, values, and community-centered approach in all interactions.
- Support/carry-out financial and operational duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must have reliable transportation and regular access to a vehicle.
- Experience in community engagement, communications, volunteer coordination, or non-profit programming.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Experience working with volunteers or community ambassadors is an asset.
- Experience with social media platforms and content creation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Experience working with seniors or senior-focused programming is an asset.
- Passion for community service and non-profit work.
Working Conditions
- Combination of in-store, community-based, and office work.
- Occasional evenings and weekends are required for events and programming.
- Standing, walking, and lifting are required.
