The Programs, Grants and Communications Assistant will support CCB's communications, programs, grant development, donor relations and membership activities. The role will work closely with CCB staff, chapters, members, donors, volunteers and community partners.

Communications

  • Support CCB's communications and marketing activities across its mailing list, newsletter, website, social media and other platforms.
  • Assist with developing engaging content and communications materials that highlight CCB's programs, initiatives, members and impact.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to generate ideas and gather content and information.
  • Draft, edit and proofread newsletters, website content, social media posts and promotional materials.
  • Maintain and update the CCB website using WordPress.
  • Help ensure communications are accessible and appropriate for audiences who are blind, Deafblind or living with low vision.

Programs

  • Support the planning, coordination and delivery of CCB programs and initiatives, including the Mobile Eye Clinic, webinar series and other health and community programs.
  • Assist with program evaluation, feedback collection and the preparation of reports and recommendations.

Grants

  • Support the identification and tracking of grant opportunities aligned with CCB's priorities and programs.
  • Assist with researching, preparing and submitting grant applications.
  • Draft and edit grant narratives, supporting materials and other funding documents.
  • Assist with grant reporting and tracking deadlines.
  • Coordinate letters of support and other documentation required for funding applications.

Donor Relations and Membership

  • Maintain and update CCB's donor and membership records using DonorPerfect.
  • Serve as a point of contact for CCB chapters, members, donors and other stakeholders.
  • Support donor acknowledgements, communications and stewardship activities.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and assist with data management and reporting.

Specific Experience & Assets

  • Experience using CRM/database systems, particularly DonorPerfect.
  • Experience managing or updating websites using WordPress.
  • Experience with email marketing and newsletter platforms.
  • Experience with social media management and content creation.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience with grant management or grant writing.
  • Experience supporting nonprofit programs, community initiatives or events.
  • Experience working with organizations serving people who are blind, Deafblind or living with low vision is considered an asset.

Education

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Health Sciences or a related field.

Experience

  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in nonprofit organizations, communications, program coordination, grant writing, fundraising, membership services or administration is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with charities, community organizations or organizations serving people with disabilities is considered an asset.
