East York East Toronto Family Resources Organization (EYET) is a non-profit multi-service agency providing a range of services, resources and supports to individuals, families and the community in key areas: early learning and child care, housing, outreach and community services within a community development and capacity building framework. Position Summary:

EYET is current welcoming applications from qualified, experienced, motivated, creative individuals for a permanent, full-time position as a Family Supports Coordinator.

Under the leadership of the Manager, the Family Supports Coordinator, will assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the various EYET Family Supports initiatives including relevant program, service resources and partnerships. The Family Supports Coordinator, will provide direct service supports to participants and community members as well as coordinate and provide leadership to EYET Family Supports’ volunteers, placement students and community partners to ensure collaborative and meaningful responses to the needs and issues of participants, all within the context of Family Supports departmental outcomes and deliverables as well as EYET’s Mission, Values and Strategic Plan.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct service delivery and coordination for designated Family Supports initiatives, programs, services, resources and partnerships
  • Develop and present options and solutions to programming concerns and conflicts with a focus on best practices within a family supports model.
  • Provide effective coordination and delivering relevant initiatives, programs, services and resources
  • Support outreach and promotion of Family Supports programming, including the use of social media.
  • Provide support, information, referrals and informal counselling to individuals and families, connecting families to external community supports as needed,
  • Assist participants and community members to identify issues and concerns and provide appropriate direction; supporting families with complex needs including but not limited to medical needs and behavioural challenges for children 0-6 years.
  • Comply with relevant legislation, policies and/or effective practices regarding the delivery of programs, services and resources
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of relevant Family Supports initiatives in order to achieve departmental outcomes and deliverables, as directed
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a program level service/work plan, including goals, outcomes, deliverables and timelines
  • Maintain effective contact with relevant community and service partners as directed;
  • Actively participate in and provide leadership and support to designated networks and partnerships, when required;
  • Encourage participants and clients to develop links with coalitions and groups that represent their interests;
  • Directly support the implementation of a departmental promotional strategy and/or deliver an effective outreach and community capacity building strategy to relevant participants, clients, community residents and/or partners;
  • Ensure an accurate exchange of relevant information and resources with Family Supports staff colleagues, other EYET staff teams and relevant community partners;

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 2-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field with at least 1 year of practical experience
  • Minimum of 1-year professional experience coordinating programs and services in a community based or multi-service setting; preferably, working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Strong proficiency in English language (written and verbal) and very good communication skills; knowledge of a second language is an asset
  • Demonstrated skills in family supports program implementation and evaluation;
  • Previous work experience with children and families with additional and complex needs
  • Demonstrated previous work experience in group leadership skills and highly functional in a team-based setting;
  • Knowledge and work experience of family support, health promotion, community capacity building and anti-oppression principles and practices;
  • Knowledge of services and community organizations for relevant populations;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the socio-political, economic and cultural issues and barriers facing a diverse population base/range of participants and clients;
  • Able to work occasional evenings and weekends some flexibility in weekly/monthly schedule
  • Strong computer literacy skills (MS Office applications, internet and email) and able to troubleshoot basic computer issues)
