Overview:
The PAR Program is a MAG-Funded 12-week psycho-educational model of intervention designed to address abusive behavior in intimate partner relationships.
Function:
The purpose of this position is to conduct PAR intake assessments for individuals referred on a court order pertaining to Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence related charges. This position involves the use of trauma-informed, client-centered, and anti-oppressive approaches to enhance client accountability and motivate behavioral change.

PAR Team Leader and Director of Justice and Court Programs
Schedule:
Part Time – 7.5 hours per week with the possibility of more hours as the program requires
Location:
1669 Eglinton Ave. West, Toronto
Salary:
$25.60 per hour
Responsibilities and Authority:
- To conduct virtual/telephone/in-person PAR intake & needs assessments for clients referred to the PAR program.
- To perform administrative duties inclusive of preparing, compiling and filing client and or victim case-notes, reports and other documentation as required.
- To liaise with and provide accurate, succinct and timely updates/reports to PAR teammates, probation officers, crowns, VWAP, police, family court, CAS, etc.
- To identify and assess the risks/needs of clients and or victims in order to develop an appropriate plan of care, crisis intervention or safety planning.
- To provide ongoing assistance and motivational counseling to address client needs.
- To deliver client services reflective of anti-oppressive and trauma-responsive principles.
- To conduct outreach to other community agencies to enhance service delivery and for purposes of establishing partnerships in areas specific to client needs.
- To refer clients and or victims to other community agencies, institutions, victim services, legal aid etc. as appropriate.
- To maintain follow-up with clients and or victims wherever practicable.
- To assist agency in program/agency development through identification of service gaps.
- To ensure that delivered services are efficient and effective.
- To collaboratively participate in community/agency/staff committees to enhance agency’s reputation.
- To assist in maintaining efficiency, accessibility, relevance, responsiveness in quality service deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in related discipline (e.g. Social Work, Community/Social Service Work, Criminology, Psychology, Women and Gender Studies, etc.) plus, related experience and training in gender studies, femicide, intimate partner violence and or family violence.
- Knowledge of Gender Based Violence/Intimate Partner Violence/Domestic Abuse Intervention Programs and combined experience in challenging beliefs regarding woman/intimate partner abuse.
- Training in and experience using relevant evidence-based treatment modalities is an asset.
- Minimum of two (2) years employment history in the criminal justice field specific to Intimate Partner/Gender-Based Violence Programs.
- Understanding of IPV related policies and procedures of local police, crown attorneys, courts and probation as they relate to the prosecution and management of IPV offences is required.
- Knowledge of IPV/GBV/DV and intersecting systemic issues is required.
- Multi-Ethnic/Multi-Cultural Competence.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Competence in the use of Google and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of community resources an asset.
- Police Record check with vulnerable sector screening is required.
- Crisis Prevention & Intervention Training is an asset.
- Valid First Aid/CPR is required.
- Mental Health First Aid and/or ASIST Training is required.
- Experience in community outreach.
- Ability to speak and write French is an asset.
- Ability to work in a team setting.
- Good interpersonal skills.
