At Broad View United we are looking for an Operations Director to join our team. Through this executive administration level role, you will be the glue that ensures both the smooth day-to-day functioning for this active, growing and affirming community together with developing and implementing innovative forward looking operational strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Facility Management – Lead all aspects of property management for BVUs properties including ensuring smooth and efficient property operations and oversite of all improvements, repairs , maintenance, rental and leases.
  • Financial Oversight – Work to ensure the oversight of BVUs budget and financial policies are aligned with the Board & Congregations wishes.
  • Social Enterprise – In partnership with the Board and Ministry staff, support existing social enterprises and play a key role in the development and implementation of new social enterprises.
  • Board Interfacing - Support Board in its endeavours by preparing reports and conducting research as required.
  • Human Resources – Recruit, develop, lead and inspire a high performing administrative and operations team. Ensure smooth and efficient day to day administrative operations in support of ministry needs.
  • Policy Development - Create Policy Draft documents as they relate to operations in consultation with Lead Minister for Board review and approval
  • Communications - In collaboration with Ministry staff, oversee the development and implementation of an integrated and transparent communications plan.
  • Community Interfacing- Maintaining existing community partner relationships and fostering new opportunities/relationships that are aligned with BVU’s mission and values.

Qualifications/Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of five years’ work experience in non-profit agency or social enterprise in operations management and supervision, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Post secondary education in business administration or non-profit management
  • A successful track record of implementing change within an organization including demonstrated strong organizational and project management skills
  • Experience with Financial management software and strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Strong operational management, leadership and administrative skills
  • Data base experience and systems thinking abilities.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), with experience cultivating an outstanding and trustworthy reputation with diverse groups.
  • Able to work as a team leader, with input from the Ministerial Staff, the BVU Board, congregation, and community leaders
  • Actively leads efforts to establish and accomplish operational goals, objectives and strategies with strong follow up through performance management and coaching.
  • Independent and self starter working style.
  • Experience in a church/faith community setting is an asset
  • Property Management experience and/or understanding.

Other Considerations

Accountability :

This is an executive position which will have dual reporting/accountability. This role will report on a day-to-day basis to BVU’s Lead Minister. For key strategic projects and initiatives, reporting and accountability will be directly to the BVU Board. Strong collaborative working relationships with Ministry staff, board members, volunteers, contractors and the broader faith community are essential.

Working hours:

This is a full time (40hrs) position requiring a presence at the BVU church building 5 days a week. While working from home on an occasional basis will be possible, however presence in the BVU building will be required for staff access and interfacing with various user groups and congregants.

Remuneration:

Wage: Commensurate with experience and skills in the range of 85- 100 K per year. Benefits and pension are additional parts of the employment package. 3 weeks + holidays depending on experience and to be negotiated.
