Join A Greener Future for a Nurdle Hunt and help prevent plastic pollution from entering our waterways!

Nurdles are tiny plastic pellets used to manufacture everyday plastic products. When spilled during transportation or handling, they make their way into storm drains, rivers, lakes and oceans. Because they are small and difficult to spot, they can remain in the environment for years and can be mistaken for food by wildlife.

During our Nurdle Hunts, volunteers will work together to search shorelines and surrounding areas for these small plastic pellets. In addition to removing pollution, volunteers will help record what we find as part of citizen science efforts to better understand and address plastic pollution.

What You'll Do

  • Search designated areas for nurdles and other plastic pollution
  • Collect and safely handle recovered nurdles
  • Sort and count collected materials
  • Record findings to contribute to citizen science and plastic pollution research
  • Work alongside other community volunteers and A Greener Future staff

Who We're Looking For

No previous experience is required! This opportunity is suitable for anyone interested in environmental conservation, plastic pollution, citizen science, or getting involved in their local community.

Volunteers should be comfortable spending time outdoors, walking along shorelines and participating in light physical activity.

Volunteer hours are available.

Come spend a few hours outdoors, meet fellow community members, and help us tackle plastic pollution – one tiny pellet at a time!
