Mobile Eye Clinic Assistant
Are you interested in health, particularly vision health? Do you believe in providing healthcare at no cost to the patient? Do you think breaking down barriers to care, such as travel, is important to helping communities become healthier?
Come volunteer with the Canadian Council of the Blind's Mobile Eye Clinic (MEC)!
The Mobile Eye Clinic brings licensed optometrists into schools, retirement homes and community centres to provide eye care to individuals who may otherwise face barriers to accessing care.
In this role as a Mobile Eye Clinic Assistant, you will:
- Greet patients and collect their information.
- Guide patients to and from the examination room.
- Provide pretesting, including visual acuity, stereo vision and colour vision tests, to assist the optometrist with their examination.
- Record the results of these tests for the optometrist to review.
Please note, this role is to support clinic days on November 17th 2026 and December 8th 2026 during working hours (8am-4pm). Training will be necessary for individuals to understand pre-testing, if you have not done so which would be completed on a different day (November 10th and 12th). There will be future opportunities to support but at this time we are seeking these days.
