Position Title: Mentor & Support Worker
Education & Experience: Post-secondary degree or diploma form an accredited college or university in social work, criminology or another relevant field.
Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week with flexibility to work evenings, or weekends as required.
Salary: $54,000 - $56,000 annually

Caring Beyond Reason® is at the heart of our community programs for youth, their families and support team. Guided by compassion and hope, we serve youth in and at risk of being in conflict with the law on a journey towards reintegration and purposeful living.
The Mentor & Support Worker provides structured, relationship-based mentorship and community support to young adults (18+) under community supervision who are involved in or at risk of gun, gang, and/or human trafficking activity. The role intentionally focuses on building self-awareness, fostering positive cognitive and behavioural change, and supporting the development of pro-social identity through consistent, strengths-based mentorship.
Grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice, the Mentor & Support Worker supports positive behaviour change, personal growth, and successful community integration through individualized service planning, skill development, and coordinated wraparound supports. Mentorship is delivered through trust-based relationships, accountability, and practical guidance aligned with justice system and community expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Pro-Social Skill Development & Cognitive Shift
- Guide participants through structured skill-building related to emotional regulation, conflict resolution, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making
- Support resilience-building, accountability, and personal responsibility
- Reinforce positive behaviour change through consistent mentorship and modelling
Requirements
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma from an accredited college or university in social work, criminology or another relevant field.
- Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience working in the social service field, working directly with at-risk young adults and/or adults in conflict with the law
- Demonstrated experience with case management and mentoring of at-risk adults or young adults, including managing challenging behaviors.
- Understanding and experience working with individuals impacted by trauma; understanding and experience of underlying systemic barriers young people face; understanding and experience of utilizing anti-racism and anti-oppression lens.
- Demonstrate a level of sensitivity and understanding of the client population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
- Detail oriented, with strong documentation and administration skills.
- Current ASIST, First Aid/CPR and UMAB certifications
- Valid driver’s license, insurance and maintain a clean driving record. Required to use own vehicle with mileage reimbursement. Travel within the GTA is a requirement.
- Police Record Check with vulnerable sector screening.
- Able to work 40 hours a week with flexibility to work evenings, or weekends as required.
