Meals on Wheels Runner

Position Summary

To assist the driver in delivering hot meals to home-bound, isolated seniors or person with disabilities in the community between 11:30am to 1:30pm from Monday to Sunday and statutory holidays. Volunteers only required to commit 1 shift per week.

Key Position Responsibilities

  • To deliver, with a volunteer driver, meals within a pre-determined route of 10 -15 residences
  • To provide reliable and timely meal delivery.
  • To accurately follow outlined route sheet guidelines and instructions.
  • Delivered to assign Clients in the community.
  • To serve as a link between Clients and Better Living Health and Community Services.
  • To observe Clients’ well-being and environmental conditions.
  • To report all changes in Client or environmental conditions to Meals on Wheels Coordinator immediately upon return from the delivery route.
  • To strictly follow Meals on Wheels volunteer guidelines

Additional Information

General volunteer orientation; On-the-job shadowing/training with an experienced volunteer or staff; Volunteer will be trained to follow maps, directions and safe food handling protocol.

Task requirements

Punctual and reliable. Interpersonal and communication skills. Understanding of the senior population. Safe food handling knowledge will be an asset.
