Manager of Operations

Our Manager of Operations will play a key leadership role in ensuring the efficient delivery of Food4Kids Halton's programs by overseeing day-to-day operations, logistics, and program support across the organization.

Food4Kids Halton provides packages of healthy food to elementary school students with limited or no access to food each weekend and throughout the summer. Last year, we distributed more than 46,000 food packages to over 1,200 children at more than 100 schools across Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville. A typical Food4Kids bag contains breakfast, lunch, snacks, fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, and other ready-to-eat food for the weekend. Our work is made possible through strong partnerships with schools, volunteers, donors, suppliers, and community organizations.

We are looking for a Manager of Operations who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families experiencing food insecurity. What you would bring to the role:

• Successful completion of a diploma or degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in operations, logistics, program coordination, or a related leadership role.
• Experience supervising, coaching, and supporting staff while fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience developing and improving operational processes, policies, and procedures to increase efficiency and consistency.
• Knowledge of inventory management, procurement, vendor relations, and operational budgeting.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and implement practical solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, volunteers, suppliers, schools, and community partners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and the ability to learn new software and systems quickly.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including lifting, carrying, and moving food packages and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
• A valid Ontario Class G driver's licence, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate the Food4Kids Halton cargo van.

What we would offer (a more detailed job description will be provided when invited to interview for the role):

• Full-time (35 hours per week), Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends required to support organizational events or operational needs.
• This is primarily an onsite position based at our Burlington warehouse and office (4391 Harvester Road). The successful candidate will also work regularly at our Milton and Halton Hills program sites each week and travel between locations using the Food4Kids Halton cargo van.
• An annual salary in the range $60,000 - $69,000 which will be determined based on your experience.
• Three (3) weeks of paid vacation, plus a paid office closure during the winter holiday season.
