Legal Advisor

Hearts and Mind Foster Community is a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing caregiver burnout by supporting foster parents and kinship caregivers through practical relief, wellness programming, peer support, education, and community connection.

We are currently expanding our Board of Directors and are seeking an experienced legal professional who is passionate about strengthening nonprofit governance and supporting caregiver wellness.

Position Summary

We are seeking a legal professional to join our Board of Directors and provide strategic legal guidance as Hearts and Mind continues to grow.

The successful candidate will support governance, risk management, policy development, charitable compliance, and organizational growth.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance to the Board.
• Review governance policies and bylaws.
• Advise on contracts, partnerships, and agreements.
• Support charitable status preparation.
• Identify legal risks and governance considerations.
• Participate in monthly Board meetings.

Qualifications

• Lawyer, Paralegal, or Legal Professional.
• Experience with nonprofit or charity law is an asset.
• Knowledge of Ontario nonprofit governance is preferred.
• Commitment to community service and collaboration.
