Better Living is a non-profit organization. We support the individuals in our community in maintaining their independence, enhancing their social wellbeing, and optimizing their overall health and wellness through the provision of a wide range of community support services and leisure opportunities.

POSITION SUMMARY
Assist in the preparation and serving of food to the Adult Day Program. Carry out routine kitchen tasks during lunchtime and a clean working environment before and after serving lunch (including washing dishes). Assists with Hot-service preparation when required.

MINIMUM HOURS PER WEEK
2.5 hours any days Monday and Friday, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm


TASK REQUIREMENTS
Punctual, reliable and patient. Interpersonal and communication skills. Customer service and food preparation skills. Knowledge of senior population and safe food handling protocol will be an asset.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION


General volunteer orientation; On-the-job shadowing/training with Food Service Assistant or staff; Volunteer will be trained to follow special diet instructions and safe food handling protocol. Staff provides on-going support, answer questions and explain policies; Volunteer will be trained to follow special diet instructions and safe food handling protocol; Invitation to Annual General Meeting and Volunteer Recognition dinner; Reference letter (once completed minimum hours requirement and commitment).
