Join Canada’s Largest Cigarette Litter Cleanup on World Cleanup Day

Help us kick some butts for World Cleanup Day! 🌎🚬

This World Cleanup Day, September 20, A Greener Future is bringing the UNSMOKE Butt Blitz® to Harbourfront Centre in Toronto – and we’re looking for volunteers to join us!

The UNSMOKE Butt Blitz is a national campaign to collect 1 million cigarette butts across Canada throughout September. Cigarette butts are one of the most common and overlooked forms of litter, and their plastic filters and toxic chemicals can pollute our communities and waterways.

This year, we’re turning that pollution into something lasting. If we reach our goal of 1 million cigarette butts, the collected cigarette waste will be recycled into a community park bench.

🌱 Volunteer Opportunity

Join us along the Harbourfront in Toronto anytime between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to work together with the local community to collect cigarette litter, contribute to our national count, and help make one of Toronto’s most popular waterfront areas cleaner.

📅 Date: September 20, 2026
📍 Location: Harbourfront Centre, Toronto
⏱️ Time commitment: 1 to 4 hour(s)
🙌 Experience: No previous cleanup experience required
🧤 Supplies: All cleanup supplies and a safety briefing provided
