Job Title: Interactive Museum 2D/3D UX/UI Designer and Developer
Job Location: Remote
Compensation: No remuneration; Opportunity for co-op, Canadapstones, volunteer, project placement, etc.
Number of Hours per Week: 5-20 (to be determined)
Start Date: Immediately

Join us in shaping the digital frontier of the Canadian Hispanic-Latin American Virtual Museum! You will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the presence of the online museum (https://chlavm.ca). This position offers an exciting opportunity for students passionate about combining UX/UI design principles with interactive web development. Joining our team involves contributing to the creation of an engaging, minimalist, yet interactive 2D/3D site for the museum. Applicants can choose to submit portfolios showcasing UX/UI design projects, JavaScript development expertise, and any relevant experience in interactive web design.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on mapping and designing the 2D/3D interactive component of the museum using UX/UI principles.

  • Utilize JavaScript, potentially React, and Three.js to create an engaging and interactive 2D/3D site.

  • Implement animations and interactive elements to craft a visually appealing yet minimalist design.

  • Work on user experience (UX) enhancement, quality assurance (QA), playtesting, and design aspects.

  • Contribute to both frontend and backend development for seamless site functionality.

  • Writing code and integrating interactive features for user-interaction.

  • Troubleshooting technical issues and providing timely resolutions.

  • Collaborating effectively with the development team for updates and improvements.

  • Implementing and monitoring security measures to safeguard data.

  • Assisting with the integration of various multimedia content for exhibits.

  • Administrative tasks pertaining to job duties and related responsibilities.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in UX/UI design principles for interactive web applications.

  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, with potential experience in React and Three.js.

  • Ability to implement animations and interactive elements for a captivating user experience.

  • Experience in QA, playtesting, and design iteration for optimal user engagement.

  • Proficiency in both frontend and backend web development to ensure holistic site functionality.

  • Collaboration skills to work alongside UX/UI teams for effective integration.

  • Collaborate with UX/UI team to ensure seamless integration of 3D models within web environments.

  • Participate in user flow analysis to optimize user interactions with 3D content.

  • Iterate and refine user interface designs to enhance user experience with 3D elements.

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to implement 3D models in a user-friendly manner.

  • Ability to diagnose and solve technical issues efficiently.

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate within a team and assisting virtual visitors.

  • Understanding of cybersecurity measures to protect digital assets.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive projects forward without constant supervision.

  • Enthusiasm for technology and a keen interest in cultural heritage.

Qualifications:

  • Language Required: English, fluency in Spanish is an asset but not required.

  • Level of Education: Post-Secondary is a minimum. Open to students.

  • Capability to perform the above tasks and responsibilities independently with minimal supervision.

  • Successful applicants will need to provide a criminal record check and sign NDA.
