Volunteer & Board Opportunity Job Descriptions

Heaven Sitters Inc. is a Black-led, Black-focused community development and humanitarian organization committed to creating lasting impact through community development, humanitarian assistance, education, economic empowerment, health and wellness, and global collaboration. We are seeking passionate volunteers and board members to help us build stronger communities.

Vice President

Supports the President and Board in providing strategic leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide governance support
• Chair meetings when required
• Build partnerships
• Assist with strategic planning
• Support fundraising.

Secretary

Maintains corporate records and board documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare meeting agendas and minutes
• Maintain records
• Track board actions• Support compliance.

Treasurer

Provides financial oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review budgets and reports
• Monitor financial controls
• Present financial updates
• Support audits and grant accountability.

Board Member at Large

Provides governance, expertise, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend meetings
• Participate on committees
• Support fundraising• Promote the organization.

Volunteer Opportunities

Food Bank & Delivery – Prepare hampers, organize inventory, and assist with deliveries.

Disaster Relief – Prepare emergency kits, organize donations, and support response efforts.

Community Events – Assist with the Heaven Sitters Afro Street Festival, Kids Play Toronto Fun Day, and outreach events.

Mobility Support – Help receive, clean, organize, and distribute mobility equipment.

Administrative & Marketing – Office support, social media, communications, fundraising, and volunteer coordination.
