40 Oak Street HART HUB is an innovative program offering trauma-informed, client-centered addictions counseling and recovery support within a low-barrier supportive housing environment. Our team works within a compassionate care framework to engage clients, create individualized recovery plans, and support them in achieving both short- and long-term goals related to substance use, wellness, and housing stability.

What You Will Do:
- The focus of the position is to be responsible for the day to day housing operations of 40 Oak Housing, including ensuring all tenants have the support they require to maintain their housing, liaising with partners and service providers to assist with this when required, to liaise with Property Services to ensure the upkeep of the building and with Housing Administration regarding all Rent and Rent Geared to Income requirements, as well as facilitate regular community development programs/activities on a monthly basis.
- Staff strive to encourage tenant participation in the development of short- and long-term community development strategies, using a facilitative management approach to encourage tenants to advocate for themselves and take responsibility for their lives and for the safety and enjoyment of their housing. The position requires respect for, and expertise working with a diverse group of tenants, including single adults as well as families, youth and children who may be facing varying degrees of mental health, who may be fleeing domestic violence or who may be actively using substances, experience addiction, and/or social isolation.
- Provide group programming activities monthly that assist with social isolation and other tenant needs.
- Facilitate monthly tenant meetings.
- Work in partnership with the 40 Oak Mental Health Case Manager to provide support and service to the tenants
- Deal with housing related issues such as; behaviours, social isolation, mental health, substance use, hygiene and others, by encouraging and supporting tenants to problem solve and to access community resources such as support agencies and other Fred Victor programs and services.
- Identify, intervene in and deescalate crisis situations and work with tenants to develop crisis management skills
- Assist with eviction proceedings as necessary. Including appearing at the Landlord and Tenant Board as a witness and assisting with the gathering of evidence for LTB cases.
- Educate tenants about their tenancy responsibilities and their ongoing responsibilities to maintain their housing. Know and be conversant in the Residential Tenancies Act, specifically in areas on non-payment of rent and breach of obligations under the RTA and the tenancy agreement. Ensure all eviction prevention strategies and policies are implemented.
- Assist tenants with Annual Income Review processes as required.
- Participate in ongoing evaluation, development and review of all housing programming and structures. Participate in organizational and special events committee work.
- Accurately document and report all information in the appropriate places and with the relevant parties to an acceptable prescribed standard. Maintain statistics as required.
- Communicate and demonstrate appropriate professional boundaries with the tenant community and abide by all organizational policies and procedures.
- Participate in monthly supervisions with the Program Manager.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager of 40 Oak Housing Programs.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Degree or Diploma in social services and/or 2-3 years of proven experience, ability and skills working in not-forprofit housing.
- Strong understanding of systems that cause homelessness, poverty and discrimination and respect for those realities.
- Demonstrated respect for and expertise working with people who are or have been homeless, living in poverty, experiencing varying degrees of mental health, substance use, trauma, social isolation, immigration, unemployment and/or with a history with the criminal justice system.
- Strong understanding that people living on low income are a resource to resolve community issues.
- Strong understanding and commitment to social justice issues and anti-oppression practices.
- Strong understanding of and experience in community development practices.
- Well-developed conflict resolution and negotiation skills and crisis management skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills that will produce effective, productive, and appropriate relationships with the tenant community, external agencies and staff of Fred Victor.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
- Highly developed and proven group and individual facilitation skills.
- Highly developed understanding of and proven ability to communicate appropriate professional boundaries.
- Highly developed ability to prioritize and work through short- and long-term goals and remain flexible.

Compensation and Benefits
- For the Housing Worker, Fred Victor offers an hourly rate of $29.40
- 4 weeks of vacation to start + 1 float day
