Unpaid Volunteer Position
The Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society (VIRCS) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our Homework Club for newcomer children.
Homework Club provides a supportive and welcoming environment where children aged 6–11 can receive help with schoolwork while also enjoying games, activities, and social connection.
What You'll Do
- Volunteers help create a fun and engaging space by:
- Supporting children with homework and worksheets
- Playing board games and interactive activities
- Encouraging confidence and positive learning experiences
- Assisting during hands-on science sessions led by a Science Venture facilitator every other week
Who We're Looking For
- We are seeking volunteers who:
- Enjoy working with children
- Are patient, friendly, and engaging
- Have an interest in education, community work, or youth support
This opportunity is a great fit for students or community members interested in education, child development, or newcomer support.
Volunteer Requirements
- A short interview with the program coordinator
- Completion of a free Criminal Record Check (letter provided by VIRCS)
