Position Overview: ACAS provides outreach to Asian migrant farm workers (AMFWs) across Southwestern Ontario, offering culturally appropriate sexual health education, supplies and links to essential services. We train Peer Champions to support their fellow workers with HIV/STI information and connect with them online or in person throughout the season. We also work closely with the Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OHCOW) to strengthen farm visits and ensure workers receive accessible, effective support.

  • Develop outreach plan and organize activities
  • Design and conduct educational workshops that are appropriate for AMFWs as audience
  • Assist AMFWs on service navigation and refer to appropriate health services
  • Coordinate testing service and transportation with local and ethno-specific volunteers, sexual health clinics, AIDS service organizations, and project partners
  • Partner with Alliance members to organize an annual health fair, community forum, and symposium
  • Maintain project statistics and prepare written progress reports
  • Manage project budget
  • Participate in Alliance meetings, other network meetings, and trainings
  • Perform other project activities as outlined in the project’s workplan or assigned by the supervisor

  • Comfort conducting outreach, education and the distribution of sexual health promotion supplies across different regions of Southwestern Ontario.
  • Experience in project coordination
  • Knowledge of and connections with community service providers in Southwestern Ontario is an asset.
