Habitat for Humanity GTA is greater Toronto’s most recognized provider and advocate of solutions that tackle our region’s housing crisis. Our mission is to create a world where everyone has a safe, quality place to live. We focus on creative solutions to address the affordable housing crisis in Toronto, Brampton, Caledon, York Region and Durham Region. With the help of volunteers, donors and community partners, we unlock change for generations by bringing the benefits of home ownership to more people and communities. Since 1988, Habitat GTA has built 25 new communities, empowering more than 500 families.

Are you passionate about building stronger communities and have some construction experience? Join us as a Crew Leader Volunteer and play a key role in supporting upcoming home builds across the Greater Toronto Area!

We are preparing for the opening of our new Build Factory at 155 Bermondsey Road and looking to expand our Crew Leader program to meet growing demand. Your leadership will help families achieve affordable homeownership and create lasting impact in our community.

What You Need to Know

As a Crew Leader, you’ll guide small teams of volunteers—including future homeowners—through various phases of home construction. Tasks may include framing, drywalling, insulating, flooring, and landscaping.

Requirements

• Some hands-on construction experience and familiarity with safe use of power tools
• Ability to lead and support up to 5 volunteers with varying skill levels, after training period and your comfort level is there.
• Positive attitude, flexibility, and sense of humour—tasks vary and aren’t always glamorous!
• Interest in learning and growing with support from experienced staff and volunteers

Training & Support

• Onsite training provided by skilled Site Supervisors
• All necessary PPE supplied
• Health, safety, and construction training sessions available

Commitment

• We build year-round, Monday to Friday
• Shifts: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, self-scheduled through our online system
• During training period a minimum of once per week and after that minimum commitment: two shifts per month

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a small team of 3 to 5 volunteers on the build factory
• Ensure a safe and healthy work environment
• Uphold Habitat’s standards of safety, quality, and fun
