About the Role
The Graphic Designer / Canva Volunteer creates branded visual materials supporting Smiles Foundation’s social media, campaigns, events, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, announcements, and other digital communications.
The volunteer will work primarily from assignments and priorities established through the Social Media team and will help develop a reusable Canva template library that improves visual consistency and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design social posts, stories, carousels, campaign graphics, announcements, event materials, recruitment graphics, and fundraising assets.
- Create and maintain reusable Canva templates.
- Apply SF’s approved logos, typography, visual style, and brand guidelines.
- Transform approved statistics, impact information, and written content into visually engaging graphics and infographics.
- Work with the Social Media Content Creator on planned content.
- Adapt designs to appropriate platform sizes and formats.
- Support occasional design requests from Communications and other SF departments when prioritized.
- Use only approved photographs, logos, illustrations, and assets.
- Follow privacy, consent, and media-use requirements.
- Incorporate requested revisions.
- Maintain an organized Canva workspace and shared design library.
- Ensure editable organizational designs remain accessible to SF rather than only in personal accounts.
Expected Deliverables
- Approximately 2–4 completed design assets per week, depending on complexity and organizational needs.
- Designs completed according to content-calendar deadlines.
- Platform-appropriate versions of approved materials.
- A progressively expanding library of reusable branded Canva templates.
- Editable source files and final designs maintained in SF-controlled systems.
- Consistent application of approved visual standards.
Time Commitment
3–5 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.
Who We Are Looking For
Someone with experience or strong skills in Canva, graphic design, digital communications, social media graphics, or visual content creation.
The volunteer should have a strong eye for layout, typography, consistency, and detail and be comfortable working within established brand standards.
