Harmony & Jay Foundation

Founding Board of Directors Opportunity

About Harmony & Jay Foundation

Harmony & Jay Foundation is an emerging charitable organization focused on creating meaningful opportunities for children, youth and communities.

As the Foundation grows, we are building our Founding Board of Directors and looking for a small group of committed leaders who can help shape our strategy, strengthen our organization and expand our impact.

This is an opportunity to join at an important stage of the Foundation's development and help build the organization from the ground up.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced, well-connected and values-driven individuals who bring:

  • Philanthropic and charitable giving experience
  • Relationships with foundations and institutional funders
  • Connections to major donors and philanthropists
  • Corporate and business networks
  • Senior leadership or executive experience
  • Nonprofit governance experience
  • Finance, accounting or legal expertise
  • Fundraising and development experience
  • Communications, marketing or public relations expertise
  • Canadian, U.S. or international networks
  • Experience in youth development, education, community development, international development or social impact

You do not need to have every one of these qualifications.

Strengthen Fundraising

Board members will be expected to actively support the Foundation's resource development efforts, including making introductions, identifying opportunities, participating in fundraising conversations and helping build relationships.

Provide Strategic Leadership

Help shape:

  • The Foundation's strategic direction
  • Fundraising and sustainability strategy
  • Organizational growth
  • Partnerships
  • Governance
  • Programs and impact
  • Long-term financial sustainability

Bring Your Expertise

Use your professional knowledge, experience and network to help the Foundation build strong systems and make thoughtful decisions as it grows.

The Ideal Founding Board Member

  • Has significant professional or leadership experience
  • Has a strong personal or professional network
  • Is comfortable making introductions and opening doors
  • Has a genuine interest in philanthropy and social impact
  • Is willing to actively participate rather than simply attend meetings
  • Can provide thoughtful strategic advice
  • Believes in investing in organizations at an early stage
  • Is excited by the opportunity to help shape an organization from the beginning

Board Expectations

  • Attend scheduled Board meetings
  • Participate in strategic discussions and decision-making
  • Support fundraising and resource development
  • Make introductions to relevant funders, donors and partners
  • Participate in Foundation events and activities where possible
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Foundation
  • Contribute professional expertise and advice
  • Protect the Foundation's reputation and uphold strong governance standards
  • Participate actively in building the Foundation during its early stage

This is a working Board. We are intentionally keeping the Board small so that each member can make a meaningful contribution.
