
Food Sorting Volunteer
Help Rescue Food and Feed Your Community
The People's Pantry Food Recovery Society is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help sort rescued food for distribution to local individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
Every week, we recover thousands of pounds of perfectly good food that would otherwise go to waste. Food sorting volunteers play a critical role in ensuring donated food is organized, assessed, and prepared for distribution safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Sort and organize rescued food donations, including produce, dairy, bakery, and packaged goods
- Inspect food for quality and suitability for distribution
- Assist with preparing food for hamper recipients
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized pantry environment
- Work collaboratively with staff and fellow volunteers
Qualifications
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light to moderate lifting
- Reliable and dependable
- No previous experience required – training is provided

About The People's Pantry
The People's Pantry is a volunteer-driven food recovery organization serving the Tri-Cities. We work with local businesses and community partners to rescue surplus food and redistribute it to individuals and families in need, helping to reduce food waste while strengthening our community.
