FAMILY ENGAGEMENT OFFICER
(Full-Time Contract – Maternity Leave)
Anticipated November 2025
Position Overview:
Easter Seals Ontario (ESO) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Family Engagement Officer. This role is integral to helping develop and implement purposeful engagement to meet and identify the needs of our clients and service users while ensuring effective interaction.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Ambassador Program: 20%
o Assist with the annual application and selection process of Easter Seals Ontario Provincial Ambassadors.
o Act as a liaison between Easter Seals Ontario, staff and Ambassadors/families. o Organize and maintain a schedule and travel arrangements for speaking engagements at
special events.
• Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) Recruitment and Training: 30%
o Organize bi-monthly virtual meetings with ESO SEAC representatives across Ontario. o Prepare agendas and take minutes. o Collect updates from ESO SEAC representatives to provide to the Minister's Advisory
Council on Special Education (MACSE) 3 times per year. o Attend monthly virtual meetings with the Provincial Parent Association Advisory Committee
on SEAC (PAAC on SEAC). o Share all Ministry of Education updates with ESO SEAC representatives. o Recruit parent volunteers for SEAC positions across the province. o Provide on-boarding training sessions and specific training as needed and support SEAC
representatives in their roles. o Report and/or elevate pertinent issues to the Senior Manager, Services as necessary.
• Scholarship Program: 25%
o Assist with the development and posting of the annual scholarship application process. o Promote ESO scholarships via school boards, post-secondary accessibility services
departments, scholarship posting sites, and other organizations. o Review and manage scholarship applications from submission to awarding recipients. o Follow up with successful applicants to ensure compliance with the scholarship application
criteria (thank you letter to donor, proof of tuition and payments).
o Confirm attendance of scholarship recipients at Annual General Meeting and assist with script content.
• Other Initiatives 25%
o Family Engagement
⪠Assist with the creation of client and family surveys to determine need and impact. ⪠Connect with newly registered ESO families, providing a point of contact.
o Red Shirt Day and National Accessibility Week
⪠Work in partnership with the Red Shirt Day committee to ensure information is
disseminated in a timely manner to interested parties. ⪠Engage schools and families to participate in RSD and NAAW and provide
necessary resource information.
o Community Engagement
⪠Help to build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, advocacy groups and other partners and encourage collaboration.
⪠Participate in community events and activities to raise awareness to support Easter Seals Ontario’s mission.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in family or community engagement, advocacy, or a related
field.
• Strong understanding of disability community and services available.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
Hours of Work & Working Conditions:
• Hybrid Work Schedule (occasional weekend and evening work will be required)
Salary: $42,500 - $48,500
Location: 1 Concorde Gate – Toronto, Ontario
