Dundas Community Services (DCS) is a trusted community organization dedicated to supporting seniors in the Dundas community to live independently, stay connected, and maintain a strong sense of belonging.

We are entering an exciting time for our organization as we begin implementation of a new three-year strategic plan focused on strengthening our organizational capacity, building community awareness, expanding partnerships, and growing programs that support seniors to age safely and comfortably at home.

The Board of Directors is seeking a collaborative, strategic, and community-focused Executive Director to lead the organization through this next stage of growth and impact.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides overall leadership, management, and strategic direction for Dundas Community Services.

The Executive Director ensures the effective delivery of programs and services, supports the implementation of the organization’s strategic priorities, and maintains strong relationships with staff, volunteers, community partners, and funders.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a small, community-based organization, where the Executive Director plays an active role in operations, funding development, partnerships, and community engagement. DCS has a team of six staff members and approximately 65 volunteers with an annual operating budget of approximately $550,000.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Governance

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to support effective governance and strategic decision-making
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Board regarding organizational performance, finances, and strategic initiatives

Operational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the organization and ensure effective delivery of programs and services
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant legislation

Financial Stewardship

  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget
  • Ensure responsible financial management and reporting
  • Monitor revenue and expenditures to support long-term sustainability

Funding and Resource Development

  • Maintain strong relationships with funders and community partners
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities including grants and partnerships
  • Oversee grant applications and accountability reporting

Community Engagement

  • Represent Dundas Community Services within the community and the broader sector
  • Build strong relationships with community organizations, service providers, and stakeholders
  • Promote awareness of the organization’s services and community impact

Human Resources and Volunteer Engagement

  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff
  • Foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture
  • Support volunteer recruitment, engagement, and development

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Post-secondary education in social work, business, social sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Leadership experience within the nonprofit, community services, or social services sector
  • Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors
  • Strong financial management and budgeting experience
  • Experience developing and managing grant funding and funding partnerships
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning and program development
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of the nonprofit and community services sector

Experience working with seniors and community-based programs is considered an asset.

COMPENSATION AND BENFITS

Salary: $85,000 – $90,000 annually
