We are seeking a skilled and accountable Employment Specialist (Maternity Leave Contract) with strong case management experience and who is motivated by outcomes, relationship-based service, and meaningful community impact. This role carries a high level of responsibility and is well-suited for professionals who thrive in structured, performance-driven environments while delivering compassionate, client-centered support.

What You’ll Do

As Employment Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Welcome clients and complete intake assessments to understand their needs and goals.
  • Provide one-on-one employment counselling, coaching, and ongoing case management.
  • Help clients build resumes, prepare for interviews, and develop job search strategies.
  • Create personalized Employment Action Plans and support clients in achieving them.
  • Deliver engaging workshops on topics like resumes, interviews, and job search techniques.
  • Match clients with job opportunities aligned with their skills and goals.
  • Support clients during and after employment to ensure long-term success.
  • Provide follow-up, encouragement, and problem-solving for up to 12 months post-outcome.
  • Develop relationships with local employers and promote program services.
  • Market qualified candidates to employers and support hiring needs.
  • Collaborate with community partners, including OW and ODSP.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, client records, and data entry across systems.
  • Track progress, outcomes, and meet program targets.
  • Prepare reports and ensure all documentation meets funder requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across service areas.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Help create a positive, respectful, and supportive environment for clients and staff.

What You Bring

  • Background in employment services, social services, career development, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting individuals facing barriers to employment (asset).
  • Understanding of job search strategies, local labour market trends, and community resources.
  • A genuine passion for helping others succeed.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients, employers, and community partners.
  • Ability to motivate, coach, and support individuals with diverse needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High attention to detail in documentation, case notes, and data tracking.
  • Ability to work across different service areas (intake, workshops, case management, job development).
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Results-oriented mindset with the ability to meet targets while maintaining quality service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort working in multiple data systems.
  • Strong computer and administrative skills.
