The Regional Diversity Roundtable (RDR) is a charitable not-for-profit organization with a membership network committed to building inclusion and diversity competence. Our mission is to institutionalize equity in the community and members’ core values, structures, workforce, policies, and services.

RDR is seeking two Lived Experience Coordinators to lead the Empower, Lead, Thrive (ELT 2.0) project for Black, Racialized, Newcomer, Asylum Seeker, and Refugee youths in the Peel region. This initiative funded by Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) aims to empower participants by building leadership, advocacy, and resiliency skills, while also creating mentoring support with a Position Paper to advocate for systemic change and inform policy development. The two Coordinators will support, collaborate and consolidate with RDR staff, partners and initiatives over the course of this multi-year project.

Responsibilities:

Under RDR leadership, the Lived Experience Coordinators will:

  • Program Adaptation: Adapt the ERT 2.0 training program to meet the specific needs of black newcomers, asylum seekers, and refugee youth, incorporating first iteration and 2.0 participant feedback to ensure relevance and effectiveness for marginalized and racialized youth.
  • Participant Engagement: Identify, outreach and engage 40-45 participants per year, ensuring diverse representation from project populations in Peel. Establish a youth advisory group to implement the project effectively.
  • Capacity Building: Co-design and deliver eight tailored training sessions per year in collaboration with youth, focusing on leadership, advocacy, and resilience. Provide individual coaching sessions with mentors to further personalize support for project participants.
  • Develop Position Paper: Gather feedback and insights from participants and stakeholders to draft a Position Paper highlighting effective strategies, success stories, and recommendations for systemic change. Share with appropriate decision makers.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze participant feedback and session outcomes to refine the training approach and ensure continuous improvement for the program over three years of implementation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with RDR staff, community partners, and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the program for intended and unintended outcomes.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on program activities, outcomes, and impact as per requirement.
  • Evaluation: Work with external program evaluators to measure, track and modify the program.

Qualifications:

The Outreach Coordinators will be critical thinkers and energetic self-starters with the following:

  • A combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience in the human services sector (minimum 2 years)
  • A sound understanding and commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, diversity, equity and inclusion framework
  • Lived experience as a Black and/or Racialized individual, along with a deep understanding of the challenges and strengths of Racialized and Marginalized youth in Peel region.
  • Demonstrated experience working with priority populations and communities.
  • Competent interpersonal, communication (verbal, written) and presentation skills (digital and in person)
  • Strong facilitation, coordination and organizational skills
  • Experience with diverse community outreach and cross-cultural engagement
  • Proven ability to conduct community research and synthesize data into actionable insights.
  • Experience in program adaptation and delivery, particularly in capacity-building initiatives.
  • A critical thinker and flexible doer, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Previous experience working with collaboratives, networks and community is an asset
