The PeerWorks is a membership-based organization, which represents Ontario’s consumer/survivor initiatives and peer support organizations that are run by and for persons with lived and living experience within the mental health, addiction and substance use system.

PeerWorks is a grassroots organization currently looking for an Education Lead.

We recently launched a new 10-year Strategic Plan, Our Strength Is Each Other (2025 to 2035), with a clear vision for peer support in Ontario. Education is at the core of getting there. Read the full plan here.

In this role you will help shape PeerWorks' education strategy: designing, delivering and growing the training and professional development that serves our sector. It contributes directly to new revenue-generating programs, accreditation exploration, and resources that lift up the profession of peer support across Ontario. PeerWorks staff work remotely, with requirement to attend external stakeholder meetings.

Reporting to PeerWorks Executive Director, you will be the dedicated resource to:

  • Coordinate the planning, delivery, administration, and continuous improvement of PeerWorks' education and training programs, including participant registration, scheduling, learning platforms, evaluations, certification records, and educational resources.
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation and piloting of new education initiatives, curricula, and learning resources that strengthen peer support across Ontario (Priority 2)
  • Monitor training outcomes and participant feedback, recommend improvements to enhance program quality and learner experience.
  • Supporting funder and community partner outreach and awareness (Priority 1)
  • Perform other duties in the interest of PeerWorks development as may be recommended by the Executive Director.

Experience and Competencies:

  • Relevant education - college, university or other related training (adult education, curriculum development or other related field); or substantive work experience preferably in a related discipline.
  • Lived experience of mental health, addictions, substance use and those impacted is desirable;
  • Understanding and experience of peer support as a mechanism used by those with mental health, addiction and associated experiences;
  • 1-3 years of operational administrative delivery, preferably in a non-profit environment;
  • 1-5 years experience in curriculum and training development and delivery;
  • 1-5 years experience in training evaluation and quality improvement cycle
  • Working with an organization dependent upon public and/or government funding;
  • Experience in managing training and learning delivery programs
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge and competence in spreadsheet, word processing and similar file type activities
  • Competent in time management, record keeping and administrative processes and procedures
  • Strong computer skills
  • Knowledge of and experience providing in person and remote training

This is a full-time remote work environment role. Some evenings are required. Salary ranges from $58,000 to $62,000 annually, depending on experience and benefits package selected. Laptop and cell phone are provided. Vacation entitlement is three weeks. Health benefits begin after the three-month probationary period.
