Work Location: 346/502 Spadina Ave; other Scott Mission locations based on need and organizational demand.
Position Summary:
The Director of Shelter & Stabilization is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and integrating the frontline ministry services at Scott Mission, including the Shelter & Respite, Welcome Centre, Case Management, Health Clinic and Mental Health programs. This role ensures that all ministry services and programs are delivered with excellence, compassion, and in alignment with the Vision, Mission and Marks of Scott Mission. The Director will lead teams of ministry managers and staff, fostering collaboration, innovation, and trauma-informed care to support individuals experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and other crises. The Director will work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other Scott Mission staff and functions to ensure alignment and effectiveness in support of the strategy ministry vision as articulated by Scott Mission Executive team.
Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership
- Provide effective leadership and direction to staff responsible for the Shelter & Respite, Case Management, Welcome Centre, Health Clinic and Mental Health programming at various locations and in the communities served by Scott Mission.
- Ensure that all Stabilization program activities are unified and in alignment with Scott Mission’s model of transformation and effectively support holistic and effective transformative pathways for those served by Scott Mission.
- Create and track clear objectives and key results for all outlined responsibilities and create effective plans to support the execution of Scott Mission strategic plan.
- Ensure that program decisions are informed and guided by reliable, evidence-based data.
- Regularly review Stabilization program activities to audit quality and effectiveness, identify gaps and opportunities to expand programming, and to increase excellence and transformational impact.
- Lead the development and implementation of enhanced data tracking systems to monitor service delivery, impact outcomes and program effectiveness.
- Oversee compliance with regulatory standards, health & safety protocols, and best practices care.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners and represent Scott Mission in churches, community forums and advocacy efforts related to homelessness, mental health, and poverty.
- Support grant writing and reporting efforts with Marketing & Philanthropy by providing impact reporting on Stabilization programs and to help align revenue-generating activities with program objectives.
2. Spiritual Leadership & Staff Management
- Maintain a vibrant faith, and lead with godly character and conduct that is informed by the Vision, Mission, Statement of Faith, and Marks of Scott Mission.
- Pray regularly for Scott Mission community members and staff.
- Manage, train, develop and supervise direct reports, and provide vision and leadership that helps ignite the passion of staff and volunteers to deliver effective programming.
- Attend all Ministry leadership team meetings, and participate in Scott Mission wide activities and initiatives, including All Staff meetings and retreats.
- Ensure clear and consistent communication vertically and cross-functionally and foster a culture of transparency and support across all functions within the Mission and directly as part of the Ministry team.
- Effectively manage an annual budget that demonstrates respectful and prudent stewardship of resources.
- Participate on the teaching team for All Staff events and Community gatherings as required.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Social Work, Public Health, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a leadership role serving diverse and vulnerable urban populations.
- Demonstrated understanding of issues related to immigration, chronic homelessness, poverty, complex mental health issues, and addiction.
- Proven ability to provide humble, servant leadership to engaged, committed, and high performing teams including team development and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead an integrated program infrastructure to deliver multiple programs across multiple service and locations with excellence.
- Excellent skills in verbal and written communication, active listening, conflict resolution, and crisis prevention, with the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Self-starter and result-oriented, excellent problem solver, team player
- Computer literacy: Windows, Office365, PowerBI
- Ability to speak other languages is an asset (eg. Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic)

Salary range
