Our “circles of support” are made up of friends, family, and community members who freely give their time to help individuals make informed decisions, act on their choices, manage paid support, and feel safe. Members are supported to live in the homes of their choice and be fully included in community life.
ABOUT THE ROLE
A NABORS member in the Yonge/Davisville area is currently seeking one Community Support Worker for an initial daytime 5-10 hours per week (with potential for additional hours until March 31) and a potential awake overnight shift once per week to start. The shifts would require to be consistent dates and times, while being flexible with medical appointments interfering.
This role focuses on building a gentle, trusting relationship with the member and their family while providing meaningful support within the home. Duties begin with general cleaning and help around the home while getting to know the member and building a relationship to blossom into more direct care work, with the intention of slowly integrating into the member’s day-to-day life and developing a deeper supportive relationship over time. This job will have some transformations over time into more traditional community support but we are looking to move slow & intentional with the speed of members needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Community Support Worker will support the member by:
- Assisting to create a home environment where the supported member can feel safe, secure, and in control of their surroundings, activities, and relationships.
- Supporting the member and family with routines and daily living, fostering a steady, reliable base for the day-to-day.
- Preparing enjoyable and nutritious meals for the member and family.
- Supporting natural relationship-building with family, friends, and the wider community.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience (paid or unpaid) working one-on-one with someone with Alzheimer’s/dementia and hearing loss.
- A gentle, respectful approach to supporting a family in their own home.
- Comfort and competence with house cleaning, cooking, and building rapport through presence and gradual activity.
- An understanding of mutual peer support and caregiving.
- Compassionate and respectful of others lives.
- The ability to work independently with minimal overlap with other staff, while still communicating and collaborating as needed.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the member’s needs.·
- Enthusiasm for ongoing learning and training, recognizing this role as an introduction that may grow into deeper community-building support over time.

- Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Emergency First Aid & CPR
- Proof of 2 COVID-19 vaccine doses
