Position Title: Delivery Program Manager

Type: Full Time, 1 year contract with an opportunity to extend.

Rate: $30.00

Location: On-site at 5 Brock Ave, Rear unit

Regular hours: 38 - 42 hours per week

Summary

The Delivery Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Parkdale Community Food Bank’s grocery delivery program, ensuring that clients (particularly older adults and individuals with mobility barriers) receive high-quality, culturally appropriate food every week. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role leads the day-to-day operations of the program, including budgeting, food sourcing, packaging, routing, and dispatch. The Delivery Program Manager also maintains strong relationships with clients and community partners, ensuring compassionate, responsive communication and coordinating donations to sustain program operations. In addition, this role supervises and supports volunteers in collaboration with the Volunteer Program Manager, and continuously improves systems, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and impact. This role is ideal for someone highly organized, compassionate, and committed to food justice, who thrives at the intersection of program logistics and community care.

Main Duties Include:

Program Operations

  • Ensure all delivery clients receive high-quality, culturally appropriate groceries on a weekly basis, aligned with dietary needs and preferences.
  • Maintain updated records of client needs and adapt food sourcing to reflect those needs.
  • Track receipts and expenses related to the operations of the delivery program.
  • Manage and record supply purchasing, ordering and receiving supplies..
  • Steer and monitor the delivery program budget and donations in collaboration with the Managing Director and Finance Manager.
  • Utilizing program budget to order wholesale food when needed to fulfil program requirements.
  • Oversee day-to-day logistics of the delivery program, including packaging, routing, and dispatch of groceries.
  • Maintain and improve systems (digital tools, forms, tracking systems, volunteer checklists) that support program efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with data collection, impact tracking, and narrative reporting.
  • Continuous commitment to improving the program’s operations, including digital and physical systems.
  • Other duties as needed.

Program Support

  • Provide responsive, compassionate communication with delivery program clients, particularly older adults and individuals with mobility barriers.
  • Train, support, and supervise volunteers (in tandem with the Volunteer Manager) involved in packing, organizing, and delivering groceries.
  • Supporting all delivery program clients. From in-depth onboarding, to answering phone calls and emails in a timely fashion, ensuring that they receive high-quality groceries aligned with dietary needs every week.
  • Coordinating food donations with community partners to support the delivery program's operations.
  • Ensure a positive volunteer experience and communicate regularly with the Volunteer Program Manager to align efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with the senior management to scale the program in response to growing demand.
  • Identify areas for operational improvement and innovation, including through feedback from clients and volunteers.
  • Supporting with deliveries when necessary, acting as a last resort driver if need be.
  • Working with the Managing Director to ensure the proper maintenance and upkeep of delivery program vehicles.
  • Other duties as needed

Ideal qualifications:

  • G driver’s license
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social work, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent of relevant professional experience.
  • At least 1-3 years of progressive experience working in the nonprofit sector, with a deep understanding of nonprofit operations, program management, and service delivery.
  • A strong background in community engagement and a demonstrated commitment to serving diverse populations with sensitivity to cultural and social nuances.
  • Ability to provide guidance and recommendations for the development of programs that align with the organization's mission and strategic plan, and to identify gaps in service and opportunities for program improvement.
  • Proficiency in budget management, tracking expenses, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Experience in identifying and cultivating partnerships for in-kind resource procurement (particularly food) to support the delivery program’s operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with program managers, staff, the Board of Directors, and the wider community.
  • A genuine commitment to the mission of the Parkdale Community Food Bank and a dedication to providing food access without barriers.
  • Experience with virtual systems used for food bank operations including G-Suite and Airtable
  • Familiarity with the Parkdale community in Toronto
