About the Role

A NABORS member is currently seeking a Coordinator & Developmental Support Worker to provide a combination of direct support (6 hours/week) and coordination support (2–3 hours/week).

Hourly Wage

  • Direct Support: $23.34/hour
  • Coordination: $25.46/hour

The Role

You will work with an adult woman who lives independently, supporting her to achieve her goals, deepen existing relationships, and build new connections within her community. This role is ideal for someone who is outgoing, creative, and motivated by relationship-building and community engagement. You will collaborate closely with the supported member and her support circle to foster independence, inclusion, and meaningful participation in community life. This is a growth role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the member to participate in meaningful community activities, work, and social opportunities
  • Fostering community connections based on the member’s interests and goals
  • Building on existing relationships and supporting the development of new friendships
  • Collaborating with the support team to create measurable, achievable social and community goals
  • Creating, implementing, and maintaining projects that strengthen connections with friends and the member’s circle
  • Supporting the member in her current work and celebrating meaningful milestones (within her coop)
  • Demonstrating leadership by modeling and encouraging peer engagement and relationship-building
  • Problem-solving with the member to develop self-supporting solutions that promote independence

Daily Support Duties May Include

  • Assisting with personal care
  • Supporting completion of weekly chores assigned by the co-op apartment
  • Encouraging and supporting participation in new activities and social opportunities
  • Engaging with the support circle and family to facilitate social connection
  • Ability and willingness to swim is preferred

Note: Each shift may start or end near Bayview/Cummer or Yonge/Eglinton.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine (documentation required)
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check (assistance provided)
  • Valid Emergency First Aid & CPR certification
  • Comfortable providing personal care
  • Patient, encouraging, and enthusiastic about trying new things
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and confident working independently
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and take initiative with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort with conflict resolution
  • Commitment to person-centered, meaningful, and authentic support
  • Interest in music is an asset, but not required
  • Mindful, open-minded, and excited to share talents and learn alongside another person

Employment Details

  • Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Emergency First Aid & CPR certification is required
