Join ASHA’s Senior Companionship Program!

The Alberta Senior Health Association (ASHA) is a student-led non-profit dedicated to improving the well-being of seniors. In companionship program, we bring volunteer groups to socialize with seniors in care facilities—and now individual households—to chat, play games, share stories, and build lasting relationships.

Locations & Schedule

  • Locations: Garneau Hall, Chartwell @ Wescott, Laurel Heights, Touchmark @ Wedgewoods, and Edmonton People In Need Care Facility. Maybe a few more on-request ones later on.
  • Timeline: Shifts begin in September (or October, pending volunteer numbers).

What You’ll Do

  • Engage: Join weekly or bi-weekly visits (weekends or weekday evenings) to play board games, do crafts, or chat.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Age: Youth aged 12 through high school.
  • Traits: Friendly, patient, and reliable.
  • Commitment: Long-term commitment preferred (not required); no prior experience needed!
  • Other Requirements: Parental Consent Form & Code of Conduct are to be filled

Application Process

  • Google Forms: Applicants should fill out a Google Forms with some simple questions
  • Google Meet session (around 3–4 minutes): A quick meeting with co-presidents Flora and Camelia! We will invite you via the email you provide in the Google Forms. In the meeting, we’ll just casually chat about life, give you a quick overview of what to expect, and answer whatever questions you have. Please don't be scared—this is NOT an interview! We just want to say hi and make friends with you. Flora and Camelia are very friendly and lovely high schoolers who can't wait to welcome you to the team! :DD
