ABOUT NABORS

NABORS is an organization of people who want the world to be a place where all people—including people with disabilities—can thrive in an inclusive community. We are a small but mighty group dedicated to supporting people with physical and developmental disabilities to live rich, full lives and have meaningful control over their everyday decisions. Our “circles of support” are made up of friends, family, and community members who freely give their time to help individuals make informed decisions, act on their choices, manage paid support, and feel safe. Members are supported to live in the homes of their choice and be fully included in community life.

ABOUT THE ROLE

A NABORS member in the East York/Scarborough area is currently seeking one Community Support Worker for 4 hours daily on Saturday and Sunday. With opportunities for relief.

This role is not Personal Support Work or Clinical focused. The position supports an adult man living in Long-Term Care by helping him build a meaningful, connected life beyond the facility. Working collaboratively with the member and his circle, the role centers on companionship and connecting him to community-based opportunities that reflect his interests, strengths, and personal goals, with the aim of increasing independence, confidence, and social presence. The work involves supporting and strengthening existing relationships, fostering opportunities to remain connected to friends and community, and intentionally creating pathways to meet new people through interest-based programs and community spaces. Emphasis is placed on companionship, relationship-building, and active participation in community life, ensuring the member is supported as a valued and engaged individual rather than through task-based care.
