Central Toronto Youth Services (CTYS) is an accredited Children’s Mental Health Centre with a range of services and programs for youth and families across Toronto. These services are client-centered and flexible, geared for youth and families with a range of mental health needs who may have difficulty accessing traditional office-based services.

CTYS and City of Toronto Pilot Project

Central Toronto Youth Services in partnership with the City of Toronto’s Violence Intervention Support Unit (VISU), will be implementing a range of comprehensive recovery supports in response to critical incidents of violence in the central Toronto area.

The purpose for this is to develop, coordinate and deliver culturally appropriate, trauma-informed community-based services which will support the wellbeing and recovery of individuals and communities impacted by crime, victimization, and/or traumatic incidents. Additionally, the project hopes to ensure that these supports effectively contribute to the overall advancement of community healing, capacity building and wellness for the residents. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide brief service intervention with referred individuals
  • Function within an inter-professional model of care leveraging existing networks/partnerships (both internally and externally), programs, services, and supports to provide holistic wellness supports to individuals and communities.
  • Build relationships with members of the community and other stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to strategically align with existing City strategies, community programs, and for further service development to address changing community needs and critical service gaps to reduce barriers and increase access to resources and critical supports; and
  • Support the development and implementation of data monitoring and evaluation practices that adequately capture project activities and outcomes for both internal and external reporting purposes.
  • Participate in the Community of Practice with other agencies and the VISU team
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with a harm reduction lens and within an anti- oppression, anti-racism and equity framework
  • Provide flexible outreach services to ensure accessibility for youth, families and individuals seeking support after experiencing a traumatic event
  • Provide support, referrals, education and resource navigation
  • Participate in team clinical consultations, team meetings and supervision meetings
  • Maintain all records and reports in accordance with CTYS policies and procedures, legislation and accreditation standards
  • Participate in agency committees, special events or community activities when determined appropriate in consultation with the Program Manager
  • Participate in yearly service planning and program development meeting, as requested
  • Ensure that all reporting and documentation meets requirements and are completed in a timely manner
  • Participate in supervision, program meetings, all-staff meetings, clinical consultations, peer consultations, committee/partnership meetings and professional development, as required

Reporting Relationship: Manager, Youth Justice Program

Qualifications:

  • An MSW or equivalent education and experience preferred
  • Membership (or eligibility) in the appropriate professional regulatory body is an asset
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience providing therapeutic interventions/crisis intervention with individuals
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals (youth and families) as well as groups from a trauma informed lens
  • Experience facilitating crisis response groups/healing circles is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with the youth justice system and collateral service providers
  • Experience in strength based mental health assessments, trauma informed frameworks, brief intervention modalities, CBT & Motivational Interviewing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with marginalized youth
  • Practice from an equity informed and Evidence Informed Framework
  • Knowledge of program development and evaluation is an asset
  • French language proficiency is an asset, but not required
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and daily access to a vehicle required
  • Experience supporting virtual services is an asset
  • Proficient in the use of computers and familiarity with client data base software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening Check required

Start Date: Immediately

What CTYS offers:

  • Vacation:15 days first year, 20 days after one year of service
  • Personal Leave:17days
  • Float Days:1 day
  • Educational Leave:7 days
  • Extended Health: Employer pays extended health and dental single and family coverage, employee and family assistance program, and travel insurance.
  • Pension: OPTrust Pension: EE-3% and ER -3%. In addition, ER contributes 2.5% towards RRSP.
  • Compensation: Competitive salary & support during approved medical leave (sick-leave, LTD).
  • Flexibility: Hybrid work, Flexible work week
  • Contract: To December 31st, 2026

Compensation: $66,463.16-$79,360.49
