About us

Central Community Health Centre (CCHC) is a charitable organization whose purpose is the delivery of comprehensive primary care, illness prevention, and health promotion through community programs and support to individuals in St. Thomas, Central Elgin, and Southwold.

There are two volunteer opportunities available:

Community Fridge Support Volunteer

This volunteer will help with the day-to-day organization and accessibility of the Community Fridge.

Responsibilities include:

• Receiving and organizing food donations
• Stocking and maintaining the Community Fridge
• Welcoming community members and letting them know about the fridge
• Bringing interested community members to the fridge and helping them access available food
• Helping maintain a welcoming, respectful, and non-judgmental environment

Food Pick-Up Volunteer

This volunteer will help collect food for the Community Fridge from local community partners.

Responsibilities include:

• Travelling to local community organizations to pick up food
• Selecting appropriate food items based on availability and program needs
• Loading and transporting food back to the Community Fridge
• Unloading food upon arrival
• Communicating with staff as needed

This role requires an Ontario G Class license and clean insurance history of 3+ years.

We are looking for friendly, reliable, and community-minded volunteers who are interested in supporting food access in their community. Volunteers should be comfortable interacting respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
