The Role:
The Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) position exists to support the delivery of speech language pathology services under the supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), in alignment with regulatory requirements set by CASLPO. This role expands service capacity by allowing us to provide additional support to families currently on the waitlist, while offering more flexible and affordable service options for those with limited funding or insurance coverage. Additionally, the CDA position helps address high-demand service times, enabling increased availability for evening and Saturday appointments.
What your Day Looks Like:
- Assist in the implementation of the SLP treatment plan and carry out treatment sessions based on the specific therapy goals established by the SLP:
o Understand treatment objectives and stay within those objectives until the treatment program is changed or modified by the supervising SLP
o Follow through on SLP recommendations regarding programming, resources, accommodations, and modifications for clients with communication needs
- Document and maintain progress notes of all treatment activities and sessions in a timely manner
- Collect client data to inform therapy progress toward established speech therapy goals
- Collaborate effectively with other team members and professionals involved in the client's care
- Create and/or develop therapy materials and resources tailored to individual client needs, as recommended by the SLP
What you Bring to the Role:
- Undergraduate degree in human services or social sciences
- Post-graduate CDA diploma or certificate,
- Registered with the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada (CDAAC)
- Volunteer experience in the field of communication disorders.
- A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working with children and youth with ASD
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of a variety of data collection procedures
- Good judgement and problem-solving skills
- Satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
Working Conditions
- Outside normal working hours to meet client needs when necessary
- some behaviour management required
Salary: $59,239.73-$66,414.08
