About Us

The Toronto Chinatown Land Trust (TCLT) is a community-controlled effort to build an inclusive, culturally competent, and ever-evolving Chinatown for the working and tenant class, through a community ownership model. We acquire, develop, and steward land, in perpetuity, for community needs and benefit. More information about our history and organizing work can be found on our website.

The Role

TCLT is entering an important period of organizational growth and development. We are building the systems, relationships, membership base, financial resources, and community governance structures required to sustain long-term community ownership of land in Chinatown. As TCLT’s work and operational needs grow, we are evolving our existing Managing Director role into a co-leadership structure. The Co-Director, Finance and Operations will work alongside TCLT’s existing Managing Director who is evolving into Co-Director, Strategy and Acquisitions, with the two roles holding distinct but complementary areas of responsibility. The Co-Director, Finance and Operations will focus on building the organizational capacity needed to support TCLT’s work, including fundraising, financial management, communications, community engagement, governance, membership development, and internal systems.

The Co-Director, Finance and Operations is a shared leadership role with TCLT's Co-Director, Strategy and

Acquisitions. Together, the Co-Directors will work closely with TCLT's Board of Directors to implement TCLT’s strategic plan, develop and manage TCLT’s commitments, and oversee the people, finances, and organizational systems required to do so.

This is a senior, hands-on role in a small and evolving organization. The successful candidate should be comfortable developing new systems, managing multiple priorities, working closely with community members and partners, and balancing long-term organizational development with immediate short-term operational needs.
