Position Summary
Family Services of Peel is seeking a qualified and compassionate Clinical Counsellor to provide individual, couple, family, and group counselling services to a diverse client population. The successful candidate will demonstrate clinical competence, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to trauma-informed, equity-based care.
Job Responsibilities
Provide individual, couple, family, and group counselling to clients from diverse backgrounds
Apply trauma-informed approaches to counselling, ensuring emotional safety and empowerment for clients
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all counselling services, in compliance with Agency policies and professional registration standards
Build the profile of Family Services of Peel by liaising with community agencies and developing networks
Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for service improvement
Collaborate on team assignments and agency-wide projects
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Agency policies and procedures
Support the orientation and training of placement students
Participate in outreach and community engagement initiatives
Perform other relevant duties as assigned, in support of the team or Agency
Mandatory Requirements
Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Counselling)
Minimum 3-years experience providing counselling to individuals, couples, and families
Competence and/or additional training in trauma-informed care, cognitive/behavioural approaches, brief therapy, couple and family counselling, addictions counselling, and group facilitation
Experience in community outreach and working with diverse organizations and populations
Current and ongoing membership in good standing as a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), or as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)
Valid Ontario driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle
Ability to provide a Vulnerable Sector Police Check (at own expense)
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, client management and online tools
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
Availability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings and weekends Ability to work at various locations throughout the Peel region (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon)
Superior command of the English language (written and oral)
Familiarity with virtual work platforms

Additional language(s)
Experience with trauma recovery models (e.g., EMDR, somatic therapies, narrative therapy)
Knowledge of anti-oppressive and anti-racist frameworks
As there may be a remote component to this job, the ability to work remotely from a safe and private home office with high-speed Internet and necessary technical equipment
